The Montgomery County Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers incentives to homeowners up to $3,000 to offset the cost of certain energy efficiency projects and products. Made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, rebates are available on a first come, first served basis to individuals in single family homes, town homes and condominiums (subject to certain conditions). This website provides information on the program, links to other incentive opportunities, and an on-line application form. Read on for more details!

Who is eligible to apply for a rebate?

This rebate program is limited to owner-occupied primary residences within Montgomery County. Owners of individual condominium units may apply; however, the rebate is limited to items for which the owner is responsible for maintaining and replacing. Rebates cannot be granted retroactively for activities that have already been completed or products that have already been purchased.

Are other sources of funding available?

The Montgomery County rebate may be used in conjunction with other incentives available through your utility company, or other entities. Every effort has been made to synchronize the requirements of the Montgomery County rebate program with the requirements of these other programs. However, the funding sources for each of these programs are different. Therefore, some requirements vary. If you are interested in taking advantage of these other programs, it is very important that you understand their specific requirements.  Click here  for additional information on these programs.

What is required before I apply for a rebate from Montgomery County?

In order to apply for a Montgomery County rebate, an applicant must get an energy audit (or quick check for condominiums), a scope of work from a contractor for the improvements they plan to install, and complete an on-line application. Click the "Next Page" button for more detailed information on program requirements and to begin the application process.

You will also be asked, before your rebate can be processed, to sign a release allowing the County to request information on your utility consumption directly from the utility to help  evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
