As a result of the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Montgomery County received a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop programs to increase the energy efficiency of buildings in the County. In addition to making improvements to County buildings, funds are available through two programs to help homeowners, businesses, non-profit and faith-based organizations increase the efficiency of their buildings.

This program will provide rebates for energy efficiency improvements identified through a "Maryland Home Performance with ENERGY STAR" audit. Funds are available for improvements to your building envelope, lighting, heating and air conditioning, and other categories that will reduce your energy consumption and lower your energy bills. The Commercial and Multi-Family Energy Efficiency Program is closed.  As of July 2011, all of the rebate funds have been reserved.
